DAY 5. A PHOTO OF AN ANIMAL I’D LOVE TO KEEP AS A PET.

At first I was going to put up some type of exotic animal like a penguin or fennec fox (which everyone should still look up if you don’t know what they look like) but then I realized there is a good reason the most common pet to have is a dog. Dogs are awesome and I want one!! Specifically a lil labradoodle pup!

DAY 4. A PHOTO OF MYSELF 2 YEARS AGO.

This photograph is from spring break ‘09 and I believe it was a Friday. Today is Thursday of spring break ‘11 so that makes it very close to two years ago exactly. Spring break ‘09 was one of the best I have ever had and it remains a very memorable week. All of the events from that week were made so awesome by all the new friends I had met only about half a year prior. This photo is from my second most memorable day of that week (my most memorable day was when my boo Macky and I became official—we just celebrated our two year anniversary on Saturday at Disneyland yay). Anyway, on this day myself, Scott, Paula, and Chad, whom I am still very good friends with (and still spending my spring breaks with) took a day trip to Santa Cruz. It was my first ever trip to Santa Cruz and despite the semi-chilly weather I had a blast. When we got there we decided to just hang out on the beach for a couple hours and enjoy each others company, the ocean sounds, and some cheap vodka. Scott and I decided that we needed sunglasses so we went to the only store on the pier that was open and we bought matching heart shaped sunglasses, which I lost running for the bus about a week later. After we left the beach we went to a candy shop on the pier and this was just about the time the vodka kicked in. All I really remember about the candy shop was that there was some sort of awesome deal on caramel apples and I needed to buy more than one, so I did. After this we were on the hunt for a cheap place to get a lot of food, and then we found it. Now I don’t quite remember the name of the place but it was something along the lines of “Cheeseburger Chinese Buffet” and there was a sign on the front that said student discount. Next thing I know we are piling sushi, eggrolls, french fries, and assorted desserts on to our plates. The next thing my memory cuts to is having one of those awesome car rides back to San Francisco. The kind where you are belting your favorite songs the whole way. When we got back I recall putting on way warmer clothes and then heading to my friend Ida’s house for a movie night, but Mac and I ended up falling asleep on the couch. I have a picture of that too, but it’s not as flattering.

DAY 3. MY FAVORITE PHOTOGRAPH OF MY BEST FRIEND

First, let me just state that this was a particularly hard challenge for several reasons. They are: I have more than one best friend, all my friends are very photogenic, and I couldn’t possibly have the access to the best of the best photos of my friends. But there is definitely a reason why I chose this picture of one of my best friends, Lauren. I decided to feature her because we have been so close since we were 9 years old, and I realize that is actually quite uncommon. She is a person I trust, I love to talk to, makes me laugh, I can be completely comfortable and honest with, and who I know will always, no matter what, be in my life. This photo was taken during my freshman year at SFSU, while I was back at home visiting my family for the Thanksgiving holiday. Here we are at Venice Beach, down by the water. I think in this picture you can really see the electric yet calming energy she gives off. There are many other pictures I could have chosen of her. Ones taken with fancy cameras by professional photographers, or ones where she is really done up beautifully, but I chose this because I think it describes her better and you could see those pictures by just going on her facebook anyway. This probably isn’t my favorite photo of her, I’m sure my favorite would probably be one of her when we were little or something, but this one is good.

OY VEY!

I’ve tried to post this video on three seperate occasions. THREE! For some reason it just wouldn’t work but HORRAH I finally did it!

It’s also kind of sad I am only on day two of my 30 day challenge and I started like two weeks ago, but I’m going to try and step it up.

DAY 2: A photo of myself and a description of how my day was. But I’ve decided a video might be more fun.

SO, this video was taken October 2rd, 2010 at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival that takes place in San Francisco every fall. After attending for three years in a row, I would have to say it is the best free music festival I have ever been to. It never disappoints! Over the past three years I’ve seen performances by Ben Kweller, Iron&Wine, Gogol Bordello, Dr. Dog, MC Hammer, Jenny Lewis, Conor Oberst, Randy Newman, and many many more!

This day was so incredibly fun. It went like this:

Wake up and make a copious amount of eggs for the army of people staying at my apt for the weekend.
Compose ourselves and then walk the two blocks over to the park where the festival takes place (while laughing at everyone trying to find parking).
Meet up and mingle with friends, friends of friends, friends parents, friends grandparents (the festival is a very generation friendly event).
Settle on a grassy knoll with a blanket and lots of snacks and watch several bands I’ve never heard of.
Watch Connor Oberst perform.
Move over to the other stage where Randy Newman was to play and get a nice close spot, though slightly obstructed by his piano.
Listen to Randy Newman play all his sarcastic, funny songs while making sarcastic and funny remarks in between each one.
Be so happy because that is what Mr. Newman’s songs do.
Be hungry and cold and so decide to go to sushi and have a table of about 20 people.
Go home exhausted and fall asleep early to wake up early for day 3 of the festival!

15 FACTS ABOUT ME:

It takes me a long time to do just about everything. Maybe because I like to be thorough and precise, maybe because I doddle.
I think my full name sounds like English royalty, but I think I’d like it better if it sounded more exotic.
I have to clean my house before I can get any homework or studying done.
I love lists.
Something I love about my boyfriend Mac are the all words and phrases he makes up and says when he texts me. Example: deodorant=pitsauce. He sent that one just now.
I love hgtv and the food network.
My favorite time of day is noon.
My grandma was either portuguese, spanish, mexican, or a mixture and I’m very curious to know which.
New people I meet are always surprised that I’m not horrible at sports.
I have a high pain tolerance.
I live closest to the beach than I ever have before, but it has only been hot enough to get in the water once.
I would like to enhance my knowledge of movies and public affairs.
My dream travel destination is India, but I plan to study abroad in Europe because the ease of traveling within Europe would allow me to see more places in one trip.
I want to publish a book before I die as a way to live forever.
I feel like I have a fairly good sense of self.

30 Day Challenge.

As a way to kick off this blog I have decided to do a thirty day challege. I think it will be the perfect way to start because I will be forced to do it every single day for 30 days. Perhaps it will help me get into the swing of things and not quit blogging after my first post like last time…

Also, I like quizzes and being asked questions about myself that I’m not typically asked day-to-day. A little self-assessment never hurt anyone.

Tomorrow will be day 1! I’m excited.
